Day 33 Cooinda, Kakadu NP

After a very leisurely and easy start to the day our one and only tour today was the Yellow River Sunset Cruise.  Our friends said it was a must do and we weren’t disappointed.  To see the crocodiles in their own environment was wonderful and so very different to the jumping crocodiles that we saw yesterday.

We boarded mini buses at the Cooinda bus stop at 4.30 and drove a short distance to where our boats were waiting for us to board.  Our tour guide is Jacko and he is very entertaining with lots of tales to tell.  There are two boats doing this tour today and we stayed with each other most of the time.

The Yellow River is around 200km from the ocean but is still a tidal river.  The wetlands are teeming with birdlife and our guide, with his eagle eyes, was able to point out the different birds for us.  We also came across a few crocs but for the most part we left them alone.  They hardly moved as we approached them so they are quite used to the boats.

This is one of the most serenely beautiful boat tours I have ever been on with the only sound being the boats purring motor and of course Jacko’s commentary.

I want to wish all the mum's out there a Happy Mother Day.  I will be enjoying mine poolside I think.
