Day 157 Busselton, WA

Hello from Beautiful Busselton. We are finally here after our extended stay in Perth.  The day has been long though as we had to go via the Caravan Repair place to have the hotplate Thermocouple replaced.

When we arrived it was good to see that we were booked in to have the job done as we didn't have a lot of faith in the manager.  We arrived around 9.30 and the owner/manager said that it should take between 1 - 1.5 hours that gave us ample time to walk to a nearby coffee shop for breakfast/brunch.  The walk was a little longer than the manager informed us but it felt good to walk.  It was quite chilly again this morning so we needed to warm up.

Inside the coffee shop it was warm and inviting and we sat down to the "big breakfast" that consisted of two eggs with lots of bacon and two slices of sourdough.  Cost....$7.50.  It amazes me that prices can be so different for the very same meal.  At Scarborough we paid $27.50.  What a rip off.  By the time we sat over our meal and coffee/tea almost an hour had passed so we started making our way back to the repair shop.  We passed by Jarcar and stopped to purchase a new DashCam as our el cheapo died somewhere in the middle of Western Australia.  I hope that we never need to use the footage but it's good to have it in any case.

Back at the Caravan Repair place the repairer was having all sorts of problems with the hotplate.  Even though he replaced the Thermocouple he still couldn't get the burner to stay alight.  Three hours later and after phone calls to Thetford it was finally repaired and we were on the road again.  By this stage it was well after midday but as we had eaten that ginormous breakfast we were happy to hold off on lunch.

The drive towards Busselton was really lovely and we talked about the last time we had driven down this road (well perhaps not the same road as it's a freeway now) in 1976.  So many memories for us.  Heading towards the South West corner of Western Australia is really the culmination of our journey.  We have been looking forward to being in this area from the very beginning of our trip.  There is just so much to see so don't be surprised if we spend a good couple of months down here.  We will do what we have always been doing on this trip and base ourselves in a couple of central areas and do all the driving from that base.

Already we are talking about what we want to see tomorrow.  It seems every bend in the road today pointed to a tourist destination that has been on our list of places to see so expect lots of photos and blogging over the coming weeks/months 😜
