Day 154 Karrinyup Waters, Perth, WA

It is the 5th September today and our eldest son Kurt would have turned 43.  We have a friend from Julia Creek, Robyn, who has rung us on Kurts birthday every year for the past 22 years.  How incredible is that and what a beautiful show of love and friendship. This year we also had a phone call from our friend Micheal who is travelling with Robyn and Tony through the Northern Territory so I'm sure Robyn would have prompted him 😂.

Once again it has been a bleak day but as I write my blog the sun is trying very hard to show it's face.  Perhaps tomorrow we might be able to go for a long walk along Scarborough Beach.  We have had to extend our time in Perth another two nights because Philip noticed that the CV Joint "Boot" is leaking grease so we will have to replace that before we head any further on our journey.  We were able to source the "boot" today but can't get it fitted until Wednesday and then they have said that they will need the car all day as they will try and fit our job in between other jobs.  Ah well.  It is what it is.

I stayed in bed this morning and watched Nick Kyrgios beat the No. 1 seed, Daniil Medvedov, at the US Tennis Open this morning.  He won in four sets that is unbelievably good and just shows the depth of Nick's tennis.  He is certainly now in contention to take out the US Open Mens Title.  He will just have to get past Nadal but he has done that before today.

After the tennis the caravan received a top to bottom clean this morning.

and I also made a Celery Leaf Pesto.  This is a very tasty recipe and saves wasting the celery leaves.  It's very simple:

Blend Together:

4 cups loosely packed celery leaves

Grated Zest of 1 lemon (I also added about 1 tbsp lemon juice)

2 cloves garlic

1/2 cup walnuts (or flaked almonds)

1.5 cups grated parmesan cheese

1/2 cup olive oil

salt, pepper to taste

It is so simple and it will keep in the fridge for quite awhile.  I usually mix it with yoghurt to make either a dip or a dressing (add a little water to thin), or toss with some cooked potatoes or pasta.  It's also very tasty when it is spread on a toasted baguette and topped with tomato.

It really is a versatile dish and you can let your imagination run wild with this one.

We are going to have to find an activity for tomorrow but it will be weather dependent.  Maybe we should find a Ten Pin Bowling Alley 😂😂😂.....
