Days 2 & 3 Singapore to Las Vegas

Our overnight stay in Singapore at the Crowne Plaza was very welcoming.  Even though we didn't hit the bed until almost midnight, we slept solidly until our alarm woke us at 5am in preparation for the next leg of our journey from Singapore to Tokyo.

Singapore Airlines have been exceptional.  They have received high rankings among the airlines for a very long time and to me it is well deserved.  The service and meals have been outstanding and even though we seem to eat every few hours none of the meals sat heavy on the belly.  They have been Asian inspired, with many courses.  Here is an example of what we ate……

Our flight from Singapore to Tokyo was just under seven hours and the stopover at Tokyo was brief, just an hour and when we  re-boarded it was the same plane with the same seats.  The next leg from Tokyo to Las Angeles was around ten hours but we both managed to sleep a good percentage of that time, arriving quite refreshed into LA.  Here we had another stopover at the Hyatt that is a quick shuttle ride from the airport.  The hotel was okay, but without any of the bells and whistles.  It is literally a stopover hotel.
The next morning we had an 8.30 flight that brought us here to Las Vegas - Sin City!
We are staying at the Venetian Hotel that is huge!  We are a little like Alice in Wonderland as we continue to get lost and find ourselves somewhere new at every wrong turn.
The room we have been allocated has been very newly renovated (as our porter told us) and is very comfortable.  If there is any complaint it is that it is very dark, even with every light on and curtains pulled apart,  I guess we should be grateful though as we slept solidly for 12 hours our first night!

The reason we slept so soundly that first night was because we hit the ground running.  As soon as our suitcases were delivered to our room we put on comfortable clothes and shoes and headed outside to brave the 40 degree plus heat.  We walked the "strip" for a few kilometres to Bellagio Hotel that I had heard so much about from my sister who had stayed there many times.  Wow, it is amazing and beautiful.  There were so many people inside the hotel (it is Sunday) making it difficult to get any photos of the garden under the glass dome and only got this one…...

Las Vegas strip has so many imitations of attractions from around the world but I was amazed to see a miniature replica of the Trevi Fountain.  At least this one you could get close unlike the one in Rome where people can be up to ten deep.

The day was really hot as we headed back to the Venetian and we stopped at the free water stop to grab a couple of bottles of chilled water.  Even though it was free, "donations would be grateful" was prominently displayed.

Back at the hotel, and after a rest and a shower we were ready to head downstairs to redeem our drink voucher at a quiet little bar that will be a favourite. There are so many restaurants to choose from but we settled on the Greek restaurant for dinner and we were not disappointed. We started with Zucchini Chips & Tazaki, followed by Cuttlefish & Black Ink Risotta (me) and Lamb Chops for Philip.

It was a long day for us.  As I mentioned we didn't get to bed until 10.30 that is unheard of for us oldies.  Tomorrow is going to be another busy day.
