Hello 2020!

A new decade and doesn't it have a nice ring to it.....2020...
I'm very much looking forward to this year and the wonderful things it will bring.

We had a quiet night to bring in the New Year although there was plenty to do if you wanted to bring it in with a bang.  The staff had filled a large sheet with hundreds of balloons and tied it to the railing around the Atrium on Deck 10 (our deck).  The party was going to be held in the Atrium on Decks 4, 5 and 6.  It would have been amazing to watch these balloons float all the way down.

I'm still fighting a head cold so the last two days at sea have been the perfect remedy.  The seas have been as smooth as silk and as we rounded Cape York Peninsular the breeze picked up and the humidity dropped (not conducive to rain) so we have spent the majority of our time lazing around the pool, in the shade, reading our books.  The ship has a well stocked library that we have been burning our way through.

This morning we have just passed the coloured sands at Elim Beach on our way to Cooktown for a mooring at 10am.  We are tendering into shore again and as we don't have a tour planned, we will have a wander down the main street of Cooktown.  It is New Years Day so we don't expect much to be open but you never know what will happen when the locals know there is a cruise ship off shore.
