Singapore

After a very long day and night we are now back in the quite familiar city of Singapore.  Our flight from Brisbane to Singapore was uneventful because as soon as we were settled into our seats and in the air, we turned our seats into our beds and went straight to sleep.  I slept for five hours, perhaps a little fitfully but nonetheless I awoke quite refreshed and in no time at all breakfast was served.  The flight from Brisbane to Singapore takes 7.5 hours.  Customs was a breeze and we both commented on how quiet Changi Airport was.  Admittedly it was only 8.30 am! Our driver was waiting for us at the exit and twenty minutes later we were checked into our room at the Conrad Hilton.  Our room was not ready so we left our bags with the porter and stepped out into the humid Singapore air to take a much needed walk.  In fact we ended up walking for a couple of hours.  Singapore is a very easy place to negotiate by foot and as we are staying not far from the hotel we stayed at a couple of years ago we immediately felt very comfortable.
We headed to the Marina Bay Sands area and had Nitro Coffees at Starbucks and then walked around the bay eventually stopping for lunch in the Suntec Centre.

We found a place that specialised in Bibimbap and as I make this quite often for lunch at home I wanted to compare my version to the authentic.  I must say that they tasted almost the same but the authentic is a little more garlicky.

We are now resting in our hotel room.  We have already checked in with the Regent Seven Seas representative to confirm our bus transfer to the cruise ship terminal tomorrow morning.  She informed us that there are about 100 of us joining the cruise ship in Singapore so it will be interesting to meet and greet a few fellow cruisers tomorrow.
My next post will be from onboard Regent Seven Seas Navigator.....xx
