Day 126 Cervantes, WA

We are now at Cervantes on the Turquoise Coast, although it doesn't look very Turquoise outside today. It is a very bleak day.

The drive today from Carnamah took us north to Three Springs where we turned west towards Eneabba.  We stopped here for brunch before continuing our short journey.  We crossed the Brand Highway (1) and drove around 30 kilometres when we turned south onto the Indian Ocean Drive towards Cervantes.  We passed through the seaside towns of Leeman, Green Head and Jurien Bay in quick succession.  We didn't drive into the towns though as we will do that another day minus the caravan.

So what are we going to do in Cervantes for seven days.  Depending a lot on the weather we will visit...
  • Numbung National Park - home to the Pinnacles (a desert area with ancient rock pillars)
  • Lake Thetis - A saltwater lake where we will find prehistoric Stromatolites
  • Lobster Shack - A Lobster processing plant where they conduct tours and where they also have a restaurant that sell the best lobster you will ever eat!
They are the main sights but if it is still raining tomorrow we will be content to just drive back along the coast and drop in to all the towns and maybe stop for a delicious seafood lunch at one of them.  There are numerous lookouts along the Indian Ocean Drive where hopefully we will get a good view of the Turquoise Coast.
