Breakfast was a little different today with us all boarding the coach and our driver Norm taking us to the First Nations Squamish Lil Wat Cultural Centre where a delicious buffet breakfast was laid out for us. After we had our fill we were walked through the cultural building by our Squamish guide who gave us an insight into the history of the Squamish and Lil Wat tribes. We were told that Whistler was located on the boundary of the two tribes so rather than fight over ownership they decided to share ownership.
Our guide, beating her drum, taught us how to dance as different animals that was very funny to watch.....
We spent around two hours in the centre that was both informative and interesting before we were back on board the bus to return to our hotel. Everyone seemed to go in different directions when we returned. The tour choices today were numerous. There were Float Plane, Jeep Trek, Treetop Walk and Zipline that we decided to do. Our tour did not start until 1pm so we decided to take a walk around downtown Whistler that ended up being around an 8km walk! We got a little lost and ended up doing the circumference of the golf course!
We arrived back from our walk just in time to join our tour group to drive high into the mountains for the Zipline. Whistler is renowned for its extreme sports in the summer months with mountain biking being the favourite. Of course in winter it is all about the snow sports. The Ziplines are also very popular and there is one line that stretches around 2kms from mountain top to mountain top. It is not open at the moment but will re-open in two weeks. I would not want to do it.

Our Zipline tour was called Bear and it is designed for both the very young and very old! It is four Ziplines in total starting from a very easy short line to a much longer steeper line followed by two more short lines. I loved the first line but the second one had my heart beating very fast and I almost couldn't step off the platform, but I did it. Philip loved it and he used the Go-Pro to record his lines and I can't wait to see the footage.
Our friend Geoff summed up the day when he said we went from Trepidation to Exhilaration. I am so pleased that I did it. Yes, it scared me a little, but I will probably never get another opportunity to do Ziplining and you have to take the opportunities when they come along. Over lunch today with Diana and Geoff we discussed some of the tours we have taken together and we have kinda urged each other along which has not been a bad thing. Sometimes you need a bit of a push to step out of your comfort zone.

We are now nearing the end of this tour of Western Canada. Tomorrow we arrive into Victoria where we will spend two nights before Philip and I fly over to East Canada (Toronto/Quebec) and begin another tour. It will be a lot slower paced so it should be enjoyable.
