I'll give you a hint. It's not Palm Cove 😁 .........
Gundiah! We will be here for the next week caretaking "Evergreen" while our son and DIL take off for a well deserved holiday to Airlie Beach. We arrived here on Friday to thunder, lightning and small hail. Our son had cleared a bay in his machinery shed so we parked the caravan there for our first night. Gladly the rain has moved well off the coast and we are now having some glorious weather.
We started making our way south on Monday and our first night was at Rollingstone Beach Front Van Park where we are now on a first name basis with the managers as we stay here every time we head south! We also now get the prime beach front sites that is a big bonus.
Next stop south was at the Proserpine Tourist Park. This is the second time we have stayed here and it is another green van park with lots of shady trees. Not so great for our satellite TV but we are kinda grateful for that sometimes.
Wednesday we made it as far as Marlborough. We find that four to five hours of drive time with the caravan is enough. We are usually on the road around 8.30am - 9.00am and arrive at our destination for a late lunch between 1.00pm - 2.00pm. We almost always stop to fuel up each day around 10.30am and make sure we find a fuel stop that has good takeaway coffee. Our little indulgence. Marlborough van park is ok for an overnighter but as it is against the highway it can be quite noisy. We shut the van and turned on the a/c to drown out the majority of the noise.
Our next night was Tannum Sands where our good friends Lynn and Graham live. We are all travelling together to Tasmania for Christmas this year (Covid permitting) so we had quite a bit of planning to do. Our stay at Tannum is at the Discovery Park Van Park. It is a lovely green park with lots of shade but not enough to spoil satellite tv reception. However the sites are a little tight to get into so we have come up with the perfect solution where I now reverse in and Philip directs me. I don't know why we haven't come up with this idea before and not surprisingly we have found a lot of husband and wives are adopting the same idea.
So that brings us back to Gundiah. Yesterday we went to Marco's block - "Eureka"- that is on the other side of the Mary River. We gave a hand mustering in his weaner heifers that had to be needled. I could tell Philip really enjoyed being back amongst the cattle but will certainly have had has fill by the time Marco gets back.
That's all for today folks.
Take care in whatever you do.
