So, at 6am this morning we hitched up the van and hit the road. It was a very wet and bleak morning as we headed south along the usually quite beautiful Coral Coast. I must admit it was hard to leave Palm Cove behind. This photo was taken from our balcony just a few days ago. Just so lovely......The drive through Cairns was incredibly good run as we missed most of the early morning traffic chaos and I quickly took some photos of the ranges surrounding Cairns that were peaking out through the heavy cloud cover....
Each day, for the next four days, we will be covering a distance of just over 400kms as we have to be on the Sunshine Coast on Monday the 10th at 9am to have the van serviced. To cover this much distance each day is quite unusual for us as we find the "sweet" amount of travel is no more than 300km. So we are going to leave early each morning and stop for a brunch break around 10am each day that should get us to our days destination mid afternoon. Well, that is the plan so far :-)
Today we are staying at the Townsville Eco Village at Nome that is just south of Townsville. It is a lovely van park but we are excited to be heading to their restaurant - The Black Barra Bar & Cafe - where they have a great selection of main meals including things like BBQ Crocodile, Grilled Emu Fillet, Sous Vide Kangaroo and Lemon Myrtle Fettuccine. How good do they sound!
I will try to post something each day of our travels but can't promise. Some days there is just nothing to write about - hahahhaaaahhha!
