Day 192 Peaceful Bay (Greens Pool & Elephant Rocks), WA

It was a much shorter touring day today to Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks that are around thirty kilometres from our home base.  This was another recommendation by our friends Jane and Michael and I agree with them that it should not be missed when you are in the area.  As we drive into Williams Bay we see that there are two car parks that look relatively new and both have lots of parking spaces that would attest to it being a very popular area in the warmer summer months.  We parked in the Elephant Rocks car park as this is the first place we wanted to visit.  It is a short walk along a path and down some stairs to Elephant Rocks and it doesn't take much of an imagination to see that these giant granite rocks do indeed look like a herd of Elephants walking into the ocean.

It is such a shame the weather is not playing the game for us because I can imagine the colours of the ocean here on a sunny day would be stunning.  There some pretty wildflowers along the pathway. Some I have not seen before.

It is a bit of rock scrambling to reach Greens Pool from Elephant Rocks but there is also an alternative staircase. It is a very popular place to swim in the summer months and the snorkelling is apparently pretty darn good as well.  The calm water in the protected bay is home to lots of beautiful fish including Angel Fish.  I did contemplate pulling out the wetsuit but it was such an overcast day that I daresay most of the fish would be hiding so there would not be much to see.  There were a few brave souls entering the freezing water but none stayed in the water very long.  We were content to walk along the beach and just breath in the beauty.  It is a remarkable place with all of the granite boulders scattered along the beach.

Back in the car, we continued along the road that bordered the ocean and arrived at Waterfall Beach.  The weather is really closing in while we are here so we didn't go exploring to try and find the Waterfalls.  We have to be content with looking at photos of them on the World Wide Web......
One more stop on the way home at the Sly Fox Cafe where there was a sign saying they had fresh eggs.  Unfortunately they were all sold the time we got there so I missed out.  Apparent the Sly Fox Cafe has a mean hamburger on their menu but we are happy to go home for lunch today.  They also had an old vintage car used as a landscaping tool.  Must say these old cars look pretty good.

We were home before midday today that makes for a nice change as we haven't been home before 2pm the last few days.  Tomorrow Philip has the car booked in for a service at Denmark so we are going our separate ways.  I intend to stretch my body with a nice long yoga practice and perhaps a walk around Peaceful Bay while Philip wants to find a barber in Denmark to get a much needed haircut.
