My friend Kate recently celebrated her 60th birthday party at their house at Kuranda. We decided in advance to load the camper and stay the night so that we could both enjoy a drink or two without the worry of driving home. Kate has the loveliest friends and family and her siblings were all there to help her celebrate this milestone birthday. Kate has made a career of nursing and it was a bundle of laughs when her sisters and brothers all dressed up in their medical outfits to "take the piss" out of her. God only knows where they managed to pick up the old fashioned nursing outfits! They looked amazing. One of Kate's sisters had written a poem about Kate's nursing life that was really moving...

The Siblings..... |
It was a fantastic day that went well into the night with quite a few of us choosing to stay the night.
The next morning (Kate's real birthday) we gathered around to once again sing happy birthday and cut another beautiful cake creation made by Kate's daughter. She's so clever!
So this last weekend we once again had the absolute pleasure of Kate & Mike's company for an impromptu bbq and sleep-over. We had been talking about doing this for awhile but we have all been so incredibly busy.
They arrived about 4.30 in the afternoon and it didn't take Kate and I long to jump into the pool. I'm so pleased that we paid the extra to heat the pool as it was just delightful to relax in 32 degrees with a couple of glasses of Moet!

We all had probably a few more drinks than we should have but it was such an enjoyable night. We listened to music from the 60's and 70's and danced and sang the night away. The next morning we were probably regretting some of those beverages but what a wonderful way to spend a weekend with friends.
